Aaron Donald Has Tryout With Rams...

The long-rumored possible return of a legendary Los Angeles Ram appears to be getting closer and closer. Former (and future?) Rams defensive lineman Aaron Donald had a formal tryout for the team on Wednesday, reports Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. However, it wasn't a tryout in the sense that Donald was being evaluated. Donald's Return May Be 'Imminent' Donald participated in a tryout, but it seems he was the only one evaluating his performance. "As noted on the league’s daily transaction wire, Donald had a formal tryout with the Rams on Wednesday," Simmons wrote. "A league source told PFT that Donald worked out in a helmet and pads to see how he feels personally. It was not for the Rams to evaluate. "The organization’s leadership has been clear that if Donald wants to return, he will be welcomed in with open arms." Donald, 35, appears ready to come back for another NFL season, which has the potential to be truly special. The Rams could pair Donald with the recently acquired superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett, who set the NFL record for sacks in a single season last year with 23. Pair that defense with reigning MVP Matthew Stafford at quarterback and superstar wide receivers Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, and the Rams are set for a run at the Super Bowl after falling just short last season. And where is that game, Super Bowl LXI, going to be played on Feb. 14, 2027? SoFi Stadium, the Ram's house, which coincidentally was the host of the last Super Bowl the Rams won in 2022. Given all those factors, fans and media members are buzzing that the stars are aligning for Donald's return. "If Donald felt good about his workout, then his return to being an active NFL player may be imminent," Simmons wrote. Rams coach Sean McVay expressed a similar sentiment last week, though he clarified that any news about Donald's return won't come until after Aug. 7. "We've loosely had some different timelines that are kind of temporary," McVay said, as reported by Sarah Bishop of ESPN. "I want to keep those between us just if something unforeseen happens, out of respect for him and the situation. But I know this: Things are going in the right direction. And if there's an arrow, it's trending upwards."
